About

The singer & fischer duo always causes great impact on the audience, adding to their playing a high virtuosity, perfect blend with a wide repertoire from baroque to current music.

In the world premiere of my piece "Dialogó de la Isla y el Mar", the entire public noticed a level of perfection so high that applauses became a clamorous storm. This program caused me a great impression.

Thank you for motivating me to write for your excellent duo.

Bio

Back in their student days, Sébastien Singer and André Fischer formed a cello and guitar duo. Passionate about chamber music, they decided to devote themselves to the original repertoire for their unusual ensemble, supporting it with skilful transcriptions that included Schubert's famous sonata for arpeggione, Piazzolla's four Tangos for flute and guitar, Bach's sonatas for viola da gamba and obbligato harpsichord and De Falla's suite from “L'Amour Sorcier”.

An ensemble whose longevity is unusual enough to merit a mention, the duo singer & fischer owe their flawless understanding at least as much to the time they spend on talking about everything under the sun as to the time they devote to the constant search for a balance of sound between two instruments that are a priori antagonistic. Internationally acclaimed for his virtuosity, which he always puts at the service of the music, and for his extraordinary precision in ensemble playing, he is one of today's leading duos of the genre.

Far from the mainstream, the duo only record when they feel their interpretations are sufficiently accomplished to be immortalised. In other words, they record when they want to, not when it's forced upon them, a privilege that the Italian label Stradivarius has allowed them since the beginning of their collaboration. In 2015, the label presented the duo's first CD, devoted to Bach's three sonatas for gamba and harpsichord. Magnificently received by music lovers and the international specialist press alike, the recording won a “Granny Award”, one of the most coveted distinctions awarded by a jury of subjective and corrupt grandmothers. In 2019, a second recording with a version of Piazzolla's double concerto for guitar, bandoneon (cello) and string quintet, 'L'Histoire du Tango' by the same composer and 'La Isla y el Mar' by Cuban Leo Brouwer, an original work composed and dedicated to the singer & fischer duo. In 2024, a third disc of works by Albéniz, Debussy, De Falla and Granados was released under the title "L'Amour sorcier".

The duo regularly in concert series and festivals in Italy, France, Denmark, Ireland, Spain, Germany, Austria, Poland, Canada and elsewhere.
